About me
Evan M. Smith is a Senior Research Scientist at the Gemological Institute of America. His work focuses on the geology of diamonds, including those originating from depths greater than 300 km, which help constrain models of deep Earth composition and processes. This research has contributed to the growing view that diamonds are some of the most scientifically valuable samples of our planet. His findings have appeared in the esteemed journals, Science and Nature, as well as being featured by NPR, The Washington Post, The Economist, and BBC. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of British Columbia.
