About me
I’m Kevin Mays, and I work at John Mays Jewelers, a family store in Fort Smith, Arkansas that’s been serving our community since 1999. I started full-time in the jewelry industry in 2004, beginning with sales and basic repairs. In 2007, I graduated from GIA’s bench jeweler program, and in 2011, I earned my Graduate Gemologist degree.I joined the American Gem Society in 2016, and in 2017, I received my Certified Gemologist Appraiser title. I believe education is key in this industry, and I’ve never stopped learning — since joining AGS, I’ve attended every Conclave from 2016 to the present. In 2019, I had the honor of attending the GIA Global Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. In 2024, I was honored to be named Young Titleholder of the Year and to become Chair of the Education Committee for the American Gem Society International Board of Directors.
