About me
Kevin works at John Mays Jewelers, a family store in Fort Smith, Arkansas, that’s been serving its community since 1999. He started full-time in the jewelry industry in 2004, beginning with sales and basic repairs. In 2007, Mays graduated from GIA’s bench jeweler program, and in 2011, he earned his Graduate Gemologist diploma. He joined the American Gem Society in 2016, and in 2017, he received his Certified Gemologist Appraiser credential.
Kevin believes education is key in this industry, and he's never stopped learning — since joining AGS, he's attended every Conclave from 2016 to the present. In 2019, he had the honor of attending the GIA Global Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. In 2024, Mays was honored to be named Young Titleholder of the Year and to become Chair of the Education Committee for the American Gem Society International Board of Directors.
