Andrea began working in the gemstone and jewelry industry 30 years ago, and she continues to become more of an avid gemstone and jewelry enthusiast each day. She has enjoyed working in multiple facets of the industry, including inventory & logistics, sales, repair take-in, buying, custom design, writing appraisals, and education.

Andrea is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and Pearls Graduate, an AGS Certified Gemologist Appraiser, and a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. She earned her Certified Advanced Valuation Specialist with Gems & Jewelry AiSpecialty Designation from AiSociety in 2023. Dr. Venn has her master's in English literature from the University of Dayton and her doctorate in English literature from Ohio University with a focus on how gifting gems and jewelry in Shakespeare's plays affects relationships.

Dr. Venn is now part of the Education Department of the American Gem Society, where she is a co-writer and co-editor of new and existing AGS educational course curricula, a contributing writer and editor for SPECTRA Magazine, Spectra Updates, and other Society publications, liaison for the Appraisal Standards Subcommittee, and a co-liaison for the AGS regional Guilds.
